So Many Colors, So Little Time: Color Trends, 2018

Posted April 19, 2018 by christain

There are SO many colors! And SO little time to use them all! How do color experts actually use magic to predict color trends for the upcoming year? Is there some sort of crystal ball that causes them to know what’s coming?

Not really.

Predicting color trends for the future year takes hard work, and maybe a bit of magic. According to Benjamin Moore Paint’s design expert, Andrea Magno, color experts “spend months researching and traveling around the world, attending design shows and picking up cues and influences from different industries, including fashion, art, and even politics. . . finding the common threads. . .”

Don’t Miss this Vacation Retreat at the Parade of Homes

Posted February 19, 2018 by christain

This villa is a real treat for anybody who loves the polished home design.  With 5 beds and 3773 square feet of living space, this house has got enough room for anybody.  It also comes with 6 bathrooms and a den in case someone has to take their work with them on vacation.

The villa has a modern color scheme and design while still going for that “natural” feel.  You can see the natural look easily just by looking on the outside of the house.  I mean the garage is wood stained for Pete’s sake!   But you can also play in the huge backyard.  Or if you’re worried about getting dirty there’s a covered balcony with enough chairs to sit the entire family.  Perfect place for everyone to just sit around and share stories when it gets dark.

This house is all a part of the Arcadia Vacation Resort.  The resort comes complete with a lazy river, pool, spa, and a waterslide for the whole family!

And after the whole family has had their waterpark fun, the resort has even got a clubhouse to dry off in and play games.

But if that’s not enough for you, the vacation resort also has a pickleball and volleyball court for all your summertime fun!  This all is just a part of that St George summer fun.  I guess there’s a reason they say it’s easy in St Geezy.

Open Concept Plans

Open Concept Plans

Posted October 11, 2017 by christain

Imagine a home where you do not miss a moment of what’s going on. When planning a home, it is important to consider the openness of space and increase visibility.

Open concept plans do just that.

Most families love implementing this concept into their plans because they love the space, especially when they have little ones running around. You can be in the kitchen cooking dinner while still keep an eye on your children in the living room. No walls, no boundaries, no tiny hallways, no more missing out on special moments because you are in the next room!

You can also enjoy watching TV in the living room area and still keep an eye on what you have cooked on the stove. Families love open concept plans because they are convenient and it gives you more house for your money.

Planning Your Pantry

Planning Your Pantry

Posted October 10, 2017 by christain

Planning your Pantry and including it in a well-designed kitchen takes a lot of detailed thought and work.

As you know, the kitchen is one of the most well-used spots in the house.

There’s the joy: cooking with your spouse, baking cookies with your kids or preparing Christmas dinner with your whole family.

And there’s the angst: the age-old question of “Who left their dishes on the counter AGAIN?!” or “Who’s turn is it to load/unload the dishwasher?!” and “WHY HAVEN’T YOU EMPTIED IT YET?!?” (or is that just at my house?)

But the workhorse of the kitchen is the pantry. And that room, while simple in many ways, also needs some serious forethought put into planning, especially if you’re building or doing a major remodel.

Bright color palete solarium-style sunroom.

Color Trends of 2017

Posted September 4, 2017 by Trevor Dalton

When planning a house it’s essential to pick out a nice palette so your house has a theme.  Obviously you have to be careful about what you pick.  You’re not going to put a bright orange next to a rosy pink.  It’d just be hideous.  Many houses like to pick a dark brown or black, and then a white.  However, there are many more options than just a dark and a bright.  Here are some that I’ve found that add to a great color palette.

Wet Hall

No More Wet Kids in the Living Room. Check out Your Wet Hall

Posted May 19, 2017 by genlabs

Living in Southern Utah plays a large part in most of my home designs. Those of us who have built homes with a swimming pool in the backyard know full well the struggles of wet family members running through the living room. You can see it now. Wet kids running through the house, leaving trails of water and wet towels all over. If you have been pulling out your hair over this damp nightmare, the “wet” hall is an easy way to solve that problem with your next home design.
